Glastonbury Landscapes
The landscape around Glastonbury is flat wetland which makes the Tor such a dramatic focal point seen from many miles away. Small rivers make their way through the landscape to the sea, and the grassland pastures are grazed by cattle, dairy farming and cheese making being the main industry in this part of Somerset. The many apple orchards are full of blossom in the Spring, a reminder of the time when every farmer made his own cider, a vital ingredient of lunch time picnics during traditional haymaking.
